In a new blog post, the technology giant announces that it will immediately use $20 million from the program to fight the coronavirus, focusing on five areas:
◊ Data and insights on human safety and the economic impact of COVID-19.
◊ Treatment and diagnostics, including vaccine development.
◊ Allocation of resources such as medical supplies and hospital space.
◊ Sending accurate information about the virus to reduce misinformation.
◊ General scientific research to better understand the coronavirus.
In this article, Microsoft also highlighted its partnerships with various agencies for research and containment of COVID-19, including the new Washington State Department of Health’s dashboard of local health data related to the coronavirus and the COVID-19 High Performance Computing Consortium, led by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Microsoft is providing computing resources to accelerate scientific research into the virus.
