Apple could replace its proprietary Lightning connector with USB-C on some or all iPhone 15 models launching in 2023, claims analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
While much of the smartphone industry has adopted USB-C, Apple has retained the Lightning connector as its primary charging cable since the 2012 iPhone 5.
Kuo shared the potential news in a tweet, citing his recent supply chain survey. He said a USB-C port could improve the iPhone’s transfer and charging speeds, though final details on specs will depend on iOS support.
