Every internet user knows the Alphabet subsidiary Google. As a search engine.. But the US group also generates billions in the small sideline apart from these core areas with offers such as YouTube, Google Maps or Google Drive.
YouTube Premium or Google Drive, for example, are classic subscription services that generate revenue directly from user payments. In addition, the ecosystem is huge: six Google apps alone have over two billion users.
The extent of Alphabet’s diversification away from the search engine can of course best be seen in the contribution from YouTube: the video portal makes over 40 billion dollars in sales with advertising and subscriptions. But Maps can also be seen with strong growth and annual sales of around ten billion dollars. And this is where growth could accelerate with the incorporation of AR technology. Completely away from the apps, however, Google’s hardware business also achieves annual sales of eleven billion dollars.
Looking to the future, it is also exciting that smartphones, maps, chrome, search and co provide excellent access to proprietary data, which is crucial for training large AI models. Here, Alphabet has a clear advantage over the competition – especially when future issues of data protection and user authorization will be discussed here.
Conclusion: Alphabet is diligently diversifying and can therefore benefit from several growth trends.
