P’C market: generative AI technology will revolutionize the PC industry

According to IDC’s latest Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, global PC shipments continued to decline by 7.6% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2023.

While most of the top five vendors posted double-digit declines in the quarter, Apple’s larger decline was due to unfavorable year-over-year comparisons after the company recovered from a COVID-related production halt in 2022.

However, the industry is optimistic because it expects a slight increase in sales growth in the second half of 2023. It relies on a device update cycle and the end of support for Windows 10.

There is also speculation that generative AI technology will revolutionize the PC industry. With the impending launch of AI PC devices next year, PC sales prices will increase significantly, suspects IDC.
