What does historical accident data do to drivers?

Google’s Waze is introducing a safety feature called „Crash History Alerts.“ This is software that warns drivers when they are on a road where accidents have occurred in the past. Crash History Alerts are based on AI technology that analyzes historical crash data, traffic volume, road type and user reports to identify crash-prone routes.
The warnings do not distinguish between major and minor incidents and do not take into account whether other cars, pedestrians or cyclists were involved in the accident.
To reduce distractions, crash warnings are avoided on the driver’s usual routes and the focus is placed on more unfamiliar areas.
Waze’s other safety features include real-time crash detection and lane guidance to prevent lane confusion.
The feature is available for both iOS and Android users on the Waze app.
