IN the USA, the wave of layoffs continues to roll through companies in the technology sector with considerable force.
In the first half of this year, 141,516 layoffs were reported – a significant increase from around 6,000 in the same period last year, reports Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
Traditionally, June has been the month with the least announcement of job cuts
stressed the executive outplacement company.
Layoffs.fyi found similar figures: The website, which tracks tech layoffs, says nearly 213,000 employees will be laid off in 2023.
Data shows 10,524 employees were laid off in June, compared to 84,714 layoffs in January.
