According to sources from The Verge, Microsoft wants to acquire Activision
Blizzard’s $69 billion deal will close on October 13, pending approval from the U.K. antitrust regulator. Microsoft’s purchase of the “Call of Duty” maker is expected to be the biggest deal in gaming history.
The final date depends on the decision of the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which had previously blocked Microsoft’s proposal but gave its verbal approval last month.
The contract deadline has been extended to October 18 to reflect the CMA’s pending final decision, expected next week.
To gain regulatory approval, Microsoft has agreed to cede its cloud gaming rights for Activision Blizzard games to rival Ubisoft for 15 years.
