Employees at two Apple – stores plan to file a union petition with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). At least six other retail stores are working to unionize. Background: employees are unhappy because their wages are not keeping pace with inflation.

Apple groups reportedly found motivation in similar unionization efforts by Starbucks employees. Many colleagues complain that they do not earn enough to pay for living expenses.

Apple reported its most profitable fiscal first quarter in history. The company reported record revenue of $123.9 billion. In fiscal 2021, about 36% of Apple’s total net revenue of $365.82 billion came from the company’s retail stores and website.
Apple reportedly plans to increase employee benefits in April and could also offer pay raises.
Apple employs more than 65,000 retail workers in 500 locations worldwide. The company has 270 retail stores in the U.S.
