Google launches campaign against manipulative information

To combat misinformation and attempts at manipulation on the Internet, Google will launch a video campaign in cooperation with six German partners. In the coming weeks and months, the educational videos should be available on the Google video platform YouTube, but also on Facebook and Instagram from the competing Meta group. This was announced by the Google subsidiary Jigsaw on Monday at the re:publica network congress in Berlin.
The content of the campaign was developed with the partner organizations Correctiv, Alfred Landecker Foundation, Amadeu Antonio Foundation, Das NETTZ, klicksafe and Neue Deutsche Medienmacher:innen. A similar campaign was carried out in autumn 2022 in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. In each case, it reached almost a third of the population. The videos produced in Germany are not about certain prejudices – e.g. against refugees from Ukraine or specific fake
news. Rather, the authors basically want to point out three different manipulation techniques.
