Broadcom is cutting massive jobs at VMware

After American chipmaker Broadcom completed its $69 billion acquisition of cloud computing company Vmware on November 22, at least 2,837 jobs are being cut at VMWre in several states.

A VMware insider told Channel Futures that 10,000 to 20,000 layoffs are expected over the next nine months. The company has over 38,000 employees worldwide.

The Broadcom-VMware merger, one of the tech industry’s biggest acquisition deals, received approval from Chinese regulators last month, marking the final hurdle for the companies.

A leaked email revealed that Broadcom is considering strategic options for VMware’s end-user computing and Carbon Black units.
