Apple: new AppSTore guidlines
New York, 9.3.2020
Apple has released new guidelines for review in the App Store and appears to have relaxed the restrictions on apps that use push notifications for promotions.
This was previously forbidden, but apps still did – including Apple – so developers and customers have long held Apple responsible for this policy.
Instead of cracking down on them, Apple has decided to allow it, but only if customers “explicitly choose … the language of consent shown in your app’s interface.” In practice, however, there is no technical distinction between different types of push notifications, so it will not be easy for Apple to monitor this.
