Megvii provides MegEngine as Open Source

Shanghai, 27.3.2020

The Chinese AI company Megvii Technology has made its deep learning framework MegEngine available as open source. This should enable developers all over the world to improve the platform and report problems.

Sun Jian, senior scientist and head of Megvii Research, said the company has used MegEngine for its „computer photography, face and object recognition applications, but the developer community can use our basic technology in innovative, real-world AI applications like we never imagined before.

Megvii, who plans to go public again in Hong Kong after the end of the coronavirus crisis, developed the framework six years ago as part of its Brain++ architecture to train algorithms for computer vision. Meanwhile, an early version of MegEngine has been released, with a beta version scheduled for release in June and the official launch expected this fall.
