Berlin, April 27, 2020
According to the consulting subsidiary of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, France and Italy sold a total of 79,300 battery-electric vehicles in the first quarter. This pushed the Europeans out of first place for China, as the Asians reported 77,256 BEV units that were sold in the same period. China’s economy was blocked in January and February due to COVID-19.
For the second quarter of 2020, consultants expect the trend to be reversed because China’s auto market is now in recovery mode and most European countries remain locked due to COVID-19.
China is the world’s largest market for electric vehicles.
