FBI warns: Criminals use mobile banking apps

The FBI warned late last week that cyber criminals were infecting mobile banking applications with malware to steal credentials and take over accounts. The attackers are exploiting the intensive use of mobile banking apps in response to the COVID 19 pandemic.

This year there was a 50% increase in mobile banking. Attackers use fake banking apps that look like real apps, as well as Trojans that hide on mobile phones and take over legitimate apps. The FBI has recommended that mobile users use two-factor authentication and strong password security to prevent attackers.
