Musk wants to show a functioning brain-computer chip for the “human-AI symbiosis”
New York, August 27, 2020
Elon Musk has announced that he (see below) will demonstrate a functioning brain-computer interface during a live presentation of his Neuralink startup. Musk founded Neuralink in 2016 with the aim of connecting artificial intelligence to the human brain.
So far there has only been one public event demonstrating the startup’s technology. During the event, Musk introduced a “sewing machine-like” device that can be used to sew threads into a person’s head.
The procedure for implanting the chip, Musk says, may be similar in speed and efficiency to Lasik laser eye surgery and will be performed by a robot.
The robot and working brain chip will be revealed during a live webcast on Friday at 3 p.m. PT (11 p.m. BST), Musk tweeted Tuesday night.
