IBM and Palantir partner for open AI applications

New York, Feb. 9, 2021

Palantir and IBM have announced a partnership for open AI applications for enterprises using big data.

The companies will use Palantir’s operating platform and IBM’s hybrid cloud data platform to develop an AI tool called „Palantir for IBM Cloud Pak for Data.“

The tool is scheduled to launch in March this year and will help companies analyze large amounts of cloud data without much technical knowledge. The companies plan to sell it in 180 countries.

The partnership will give IBM tools to improve its own AI software and make it easier for non-technical customers to use. As a result, IBM expects to see increased revenue as a result of this partnership.

A survey by IBM found that nearly 75% of clients are testing or implementing AI products in their operations, although nearly 40% cited „limited AI expertise“ as a barrier to doing so.

Following the announcement, shares of Palantir jumped as much as 15%. Shyam Sankar, COO of Palantir, called it the „largest“ partnership the company has announced to date. More are in the pipeline.
