Gartner has released Magic Quadrant report

ICYMI: Gartner has released its Magic Quadrant report on data science and machine learning platforms, analyzing the top 20 companies in the field. The respective platforms help data scientists obtain data, build models and operationalize machine learning.
The important points:
While AI remains „overhyped,“ Gartner says the pandemic has made investments in data science/ML more meaningful. The report recommends companies develop new applications that are more visible and have greater business value.
The most valuable differentiators include responsible AI, transparency and dealing with bias in AI models. Every company studied is making progress in these areas, the study found.
Google and Amazon are seen as competitors to Microsoft for ML/data science capabilities in the cloud. IBM, MathWorks and SAS continue to lead the way.
Newly included companies include Alibaba Cloud, Cloudera and Samsung DDS. IBM’s Watson Studio was listed as a „Leader“ in the report after being a „Challenger“ in 2020.
In 2019, the data science/machine learning market grew 17.5% and generated $4 billion in revenue.
