AI-powered weapons company Anduril Industries will provide its drone defense technology to the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force.

The Pentagon’s Defense Innovation Unit has awarded Anduril a five-year contract worth $99 million to provide the military with drone defense technology.

Anduril makes AI-powered software platforms for presenting aggregated information, hardware for detecting objects and people, and interceptor drones. The company’s Lattice AI operating system and sensors can autonomously identify and track drones and other targets.

Last year, the U.S. government awarded a five-year contract to Anduril to build autonomous surveillance towers along the U.S.-Mexico border. The towers will use artificial intelligence technologies to identify people and cars. That will make immigration enforcement easier.

In June, Anduril announced a $450 million funding round to turn U.S. warfighters and allies into „invincible technomancers“ using autonomous systems, founder Palmer Luckey tweeted.
