Russia: only 11,000 vehicles are electric
Russia plans to subsidize the purchase of domestically produced electric vehicles. The current talk is that the Russian government will cover 25% of the purchase price of a Russian-made electric car.
Currently, no electric cars are produced in Russia, but the country aims to reach an annual production of about 220,000 electric cars by 2030.
According to various estimates, Russia currently has around 45 million registered vehicles, of which just 11,000 are electric.
The explanation: Russia is one of the largest oil and gas producers. However, the country is also a member of the Paris Climate Agreement. The government wants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.
