Microsoft strengthens itself with ransomware fighter rubric

Microsoft and software – startup Rubrik will collaborate to develop products that allow victims of ransomware attacks to recover their data without paying a ransom. The products will allow customers to protect their backup data from attacks.

Market research firm IDC recently reported that over 33% of businesses worldwide have been affected by a ransomware incident in the last 12 months.

Bloomberg wrote that Microsoft put a low tens of millions on the table for Rubrik. The startup is now valued at $4 billion.

Rubrik and Microsoft reportedly already have more than 2,000 joint customers.

Rubrik has raised $553 million since its founding in 2014. In 2019, the company was valued at $3.3 billion.
