Facebook’s Project Aria smart glasses will include a Qualcomm chip, a proximity sensor and the same camera sensors as the Oculus Quest 2. For the project, which Facebook announced last year, researchers will wear the glasses in the real world and collect data to determine which sensors will be needed in the future.
The new details were revealed in FCC regulatory documents.
According to Facebook, the glasses are not a prototype for the production of a commercial product. Instead, the glasses will be used as a test for future AR devices.
Facebook is developing smart glasses in a partnership with Ray-Ban that may launch later this year.
