Will algorithms manipulate us one day?

„Sapiens“ author and philosopher Yuval Harari called on countries to join forces to regulate AI and data collection. Harari said the possibility of „hacking“ a human being must be prevented. The main danger, he said, is that companies could one day use a person’s data to manipulate them.

Currently, algorithms make recommendations about what to watch or buy. But in 30 years or less, algorithms could be telling us where to work, who to vote for or who to marry, Harari predicted.

Data should be used to help people, not manipulate them. It should never be concentrated in a single place because „that’s a recipe for dictatorship,“ he said.
