More and more industrial robots in use worldwide

New York, 11.11.2021

Faced with rising wages and labor shortages, companies are turning to robots and automation. Over the past decade, the number of industrial robots in factories worldwide has more than doubled to 3 million.
Spending on professional service robots has increased 12% in the last year. The pandemic, as well as a tight labor supply, could further accelerate this trend.
In a recent Federal Reserve survey, about one-third of CFOs at companies with hiring problems said they are exploring or adopting technologies that require less human intervention.
Domino’s Pizza and Hormel Foods are two companies that are turning to automated equipment and technology to reduce human labor in the face of hiring difficulties.
Knightscope is seeing higher demand for its security robots, which cost $3.50 to $7.50 per hour. The robots will soon begin monitoring parking lots at LAX, but they reportedly will not replace human workers.
