Can Tesla owners soon use satellite internet connection?

San Francisco, 11/19/2021

Tesla owners have reported seeing SpaceX Starlink dishes at Supercharger stations in several states. This suggests that the electric vehicle maker is planning a major rollout of satellite internet connectivity for station users. This comes a few weeks after Elon Musk confirmed that the stations will receive WiFi.

Starlink transmits Internet from satellites in orbit to antennas on the ground.

Placing Starlink antennas at Superchargers could allow Tesla owners to use the Internet for free instead of paying $10 per month for Tesla’s LTE service.

One Tesla owner who saw a Starlink dish at a Supercharger station in Connecticut noted that the dish is called „Tesla Service“ and emits a WiFi signal with the name „Tesla.“
