All in good fun? Musk could give up all leadership positions
San Francisco, Dec. 10, 2021
“Thinking about quitting my jobs and becoming a full-time influencer – what do you think?”
With this sentence, Musk created explosive fuel among his employees yesterday. Just a few days ago, he announced that Space-X was facing bankruptcy. On top of that, he has been selling Tesla shares at intervals for weeks, cashing in on over $12 billion. Whether he is serious about this issue or not in January of this year he was convinced that he would lead Tesla for several more years.
If he is now gently shifting into reverse and wants to let others go first, that is easy to understand. Musk has taken on too much: Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, The Boring Company – it’s clearly too much, even for a giant like Musk. At some point, the creative flashes will no longer come, but the expectations of shareholders and employees will still remain high. However, because Musk is only human and therefore has his limits, the withdrawal is the best decision in years. Horst Buchwald
