GameStop wants to build an NFT marketplace

GameStop has assembled a team of more than 20 to develop the online hub, where users can buy, sell and trade NFTs for virtual game goods such as cosmetic skins and weapons.

The game retailer is also in discussions with crypto and blockchain companies about tokens for the marketplace. GameStop is reportedly seeking to partner with crypto companies to develop the underlying technology.

GameStop is also reportedly in talks with partners to create funds of up to $100 million apiece to invest in game companies and developers. The NFT marketplace had $14 billion in revenue and 1.8 million active users at the end of 2021.
