The FDA has approved an AI tool from the company RapidAI that can detect signs of possible pulmonary embolism in patients.

The AI-powered imaging software analyzes CT pulmonary angiograms to detect a possible central pulmonary embolism.

These blood clots are located in the central arteries of the lungs and can be fatal.

If such a clot is detected, the system sends an alert to physicians so they can triage patients more quickly.

The FDA also granted approval in 2020 for RapidAI’s Rapid LVO software. This AI tool detects suspected large vessel occlusions (LVOs) in CT scans of the brain.
