Starlink – Satellite Internet system becomes more and more popular

San Francisco, 2.7.2022

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted SpaceX permission to install its Starlink satellite Internet system on moving vehicles. FCC bureau chief Thomas Sullivan cited new use cases such as aircraft and freighters for the mobile broadband capabilities. Starlink recently began offering a $135 monthly subscription for RVs, which can now go into effect.

Delta Airlines has confirmed that it has conducted „exploratory testing“ with Starlink’s Internet technology. The approval means Hawaiian Airlines can move forward with plans to equip Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft, as well as a new Boeing 787-9 fleet, with Starlink technology.

Semi-private regional jet service JSX has also reached an agreement with Starlink to equip 100 aircraft with Starlink. The service uses a low-orbit satellite network to transmit broadband connections to ground-based antennas called terminals. There are now over 400,000 subscribers worldwide.
