Startup Forsightg Robotics with Oryom – Plaffform continues to succeed

Israeli company ForSight Robotics secured $55 million for its platform that can perform fully robotic cataract surgeries. With the new capital, ForSight plans to accelerate the development of its Oryom platform in clinical trials.

Oryom’s mini-robotic hand features a hybrid kinematic structure and 14 degrees of freedom to perform human eye surgery. According to the startup, the robotic and AI technology provides up to 10 times more precise control than a human hand.

ForSight is initially focusing on cataract surgery, but later plans to expand the system to other eye diseases such as glaucoma and retinal diseases. The goal is to democratize the procedure so it is available to more people worldwide. Low-income countries typically have far fewer eye surgeons per capita than developed countries.

Adani Group led the startup’s Series A round along with existing investors Mithril Capital and Eclipse Ventures.
