Microsoft says Sony’s PS4 has sold twice as many units as the Xbox One. Microsoft does not report Xbox One sales, but shared the update in court documents recently filed in Brazil.
In the documents, Microsoft acknowledges that Sony’s PS4 has surpassed the Xbox One in both console sales and „installed base.
Both the Xbox One and PS4 were launched in 2013. By March 2022, Sony said it had sold 117.2 million PS4 consoles, meaning Microsoft likely sold fewer than 59 million Xbox One units.
According to reports, the request was related to Microsoft’s court case before the Brazilian Competition Authority over its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In the newer generation consoles, Sony has sold 17 million PS5 consoles by the end of last year, while Microsoft has sold 10 million Xbox S / X series consoles, according to Ampere Analysis estimates.
