AI transcription service Otter.ai will soon offer its bot, which automatically records and transcribes meetings, to users for free.

The company is also limiting some features. For example, free users will only be able to access their 25 most recent meeting recordings and not their entire catalog, unless they upgrade to a paid „Pro“ plan.

Otter’s AI Assistant transcribes meetings on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex and Google Meet. The company is making changes to its free and paid plans that go into effect Sept. 27.

For example, a feature that automatically creates meeting summaries and highlights the most important parts will now be available to free users. That feature is already offered to paying users.

The company is also reducing the number of transcription minutes allowed per month for both plans. The price for Otter Pro will increase from $12.99 to $16.99 per month.

Otter.ai says its speech-to-text platform can transcribe in real time. Competitors include Microsoft 365 and similar tools from Cisco, Scribie and Verbit.
