AMD announces 7000 series processors for September

San Francisco, Sept. 5, 2022

AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series processors for desktop PCs will go on sale September 27. The CPUs are 29% faster than AMD’s previously released Ryzen 5000 series for gaming and other single tasks.

AMD will launch four models next month, the 6-core Ryzen 5 7600X ($299), the 8-core Ryzen 7700X ($399), the 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X ($549) and the 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X ($699).

The CPUs are aimed at video editors, gamers, content creators and others looking for high-end performance. They are based on AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, which will also power AMD’s new high-end mobile processors codenamed „Dragon Range“ and the lighter mobile processors codenamed „Phoenix.“

The Ryzen 9 7950X costs $100 less than AMD’s Ryzen 9 5950X. The pricing competes heavily with Intel, which plans to raise prices on some processors and other chips later this year due to rising production costs and inflation. Intel’s 14th generation Meteor Lake processors are scheduled for release in 2023.
