Record robot sales again in North America

Washington, 9/5/2022

According to the Association for Advancing Automation, 12,305 robots were sold in North America in the second quarter of 2022, up 25% from a year earlier. It was the third consecutive quarter of record robot sales. Experts attribute the increase to a tight labor market, higher demand for products, the pandemic, rising wages and advancing technologies.

Because the automotive and e-commerce industries are increasingly relying on automation, nearly 60% of robots sold went to those industries. The remainder was split between the food and consumer goods industries. reflecting the „continued need for automated warehouse logistics to handle the explosive growth of e-commerce.“

So far, 23,903 robots worth $1.249 billion have been ordered, putting sales on track to surpass the 39,708 units sold in all of 2021.
