Sony acquires Savage Game Studios

Berlin, Sept. 5, 2022

Sony has acquired mobile game developer Savage Game Studios and created a PlayStation Studios Mobile division to strengthen its commitment to mobile gaming. The company’s future mobile games will be based on existing and new Playstation IPs and franchises, Sony said.

Savage will join the new mobile division, which will be separate from Sony’s console game business. The Berlin and Helsinki-based studio was founded in 2020 by former employees of Zynga, Insomniac and Wargaming.

Although it announced $4.4 million in seed funding for a mobile shooter game last year, Savage has yet to release a title. Sony said the studio is currently developing a „new AAA live service action game,“ but did not elaborate. The Playstation giant plans to release half of its games on mobile and PC by 2025.
