Microsoft has released the first update for Windows 11

San Francisco, 9/25/2022

Microsoft has begun rolling out its first major update for Windows 11. The operating system update released Tuesday adds new accessibility, productivity, gaming and security features. It comes nearly a year after Windows 11 was released on Oct. 5, 2021.

The update adds the ability to group apps into folders in the Start menu.

Users can now drag and drop files onto the taskbar.

The new video editor ClipChampl should meet with great interest. Nothing extraordinary, however, is the sound recorder app.

Live Captions display text for speech from applications on the PC or microphone to show what is being said in videos or in the room.

A new Home pane replaces the DeepL File Explorer access pane.

Smart App Control provides additional protection when installing online programs.

Microsoft has announced that it will release a Windows 11 update once a year, in the second half of the year. It plans to release an interim update next month that improves the Photos app, adds tabs for File Explorer, and more.
