San Francisco, Oct. 17, 2022
Google is shipping its immersive video conferencing program to select enterprise partners. The booth-sized device, called Project Starline, allows users to connect with each other in 3D without having to wear headsets.
Google will install Starline booths in the offices of Salesforce, WeWork, T-Mobile and Hackensack Meridian Health. By combining spatial audio with novel compression, sensor-based and light-field displays, users will be able to look each other in the eye while talking from two different locations.
This is the first time outside companies will have access to the evolving immersive technology since the project was first unveiled in 2021.
