There are 3.4 million unfilled jobs in the cybersecurity industry, according to a new report. The shortage comes even after a record-breaking year of hiring.

The cybersecurity industry has a total of 4.7 million employees, with more than 400,000 hired this year alone.
Regardless of the increase in hiring, the high number of cyberattacks on businesses and organizations on a daily basis has caused them to increase their spending in this area, resulting in unfilled positions.
The number of companies that said they plan to expand their cybersecurity teams has increased from 51% in 2020 to nearly 75% this year.
This trend has caught the attention of the White House. The U.S. government recently launched a new program called the “120-Day Apprenticeship Sprint,” a program where a variety of young professionals can gain skills in the field.
