YouTube redesign aims to make it easier for users

YouTube is now rolling out a redesign of its platform that adds three dedicated tabs for short films, live videos and regular videos. The update removes live streams and short videos from the main video tab on channel pages.

YouTube commented that the changes were made based on user feedback. The goal, it said, is „to make it easier for viewers to discover the type of content they are most interested in when exploring an originator’s channel page.“

Specifically, users who watch short videos in the dedicated feed and navigate back to the creator’s channel will now be redirected to the „Shorts“ tab to see more short content.

The change could lead to more shorts being viewed on YouTube. The company recently announced a new revenue-sharing program for shorts that could attract more creators and viewers to TikTok.
