Microsoft wants to integrate ChatGPT into the Bing search engine

Microsoft plans to integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT software with its Bing search engine. The company could integrate the AI technology into Bing as early as March, enabling more humane and user-friendly answers to search queries.

By integrating speech-generating technology, Bing could produce more full-sentence answers with citation. This would also allow Bing to better compete with Google’s Knowledge Graph database, which displays information in search results.

A first version of the feature would likely be limited to a small group of users.

Microsoft already invested $1 billion in the research company OpenAI in 2019. That investment included an agreement that would allow Microsoft to integrate some GPT functionality into Bing.
