OpenAI is developing a native iOS app

San Francisco,11.1.2023

According to Inside.com founder and CEO Jason Calacanis, OpenAI is reportedly developing a native iOS app that will allow users to interact with its ChatGPT chatbot. Calacanis, an entrepreneur and angel investor, said he gained early access to a private Apple TestFlight app that has an iMessage-like interface. The beta app is currently being tested.

App users can interact directly with ChatGPT, the conversational AI model that spits out answers to questions, generates code, creates essays and scripts, and more.

According to Calacanis, the iOS app includes thread history and a search function. Users could access an indexed search history of all their communications with ChatGPT.

Calacanis demoed the app on the Monday episode of his podcast, This Week in Startups.

„It’s going to be great,“ he wrote in a LinkedIn post.

There is no official ChatGPT mobile app available to the public until its release. As noted by Gizmodo, some unverified mobile apps have appeared in the past few days, including „ChatGPT Chat GPT AI With GPT-3“ on the Apple App Store.

While ChatGPT is currently free to try on the web with an OpenAI account, the ChatGPT Chat GPT AI With GPT-3 app, although free to download, costs $7.99 per week or $49.99 per month for a subscription after three days.
