EU Commissioner Breton puts pressure on Twitter Boss Musk

In a video call against the background of the turbulence on Twitter, EU Industry Commissioner Thierry Breton has asked Twitter boss Elon Musk to make greater efforts to comply with the European digital directive DSA.

„There must be evidence of major progress toward full implementation of the DSA,“ Breton urged. Two months ago, Frenchman Musk pointed out in a conversation that Twitter still had a lot of work to do in order to meet the requirements. Failure to do so could result in penalties of up to six percent of annual global sales. Breton even threatened to shut down Twitter for long-term violations of the rules.

Musk then wrote on Twitter that the meeting with Breton went well. The DSA’s goals, such as transparency and accountability, aligned with those of Twitter.
