At Meta, the next round of layoffs is announced
San Francisco, 2/14/2023
After Meta – the parent company of Facebook and Instagram – postponed the budget completion report, another wave of layoffs will be forthcoming as part of another restructuring.
In the position papers currently available, the expected extent of the redundancies was not specified. In November, Meta laid off 11,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce.
Some Meta employees, when asked about the company’s state of affairs, said many employees had done “zero work” over the past few days as managers ran out of schedules due to a lack of clarity.
Internally, Meta is said to have asked some middle managers to move into new roles or leave the company as part of a “flattening” or “calibration.”
