Nvidia: Access supercomputer features via web browser

San Francisco, 3/3/2023

Nvidia announced an AI cloud service that will allow customers to access its AI supercomputer capabilities through web browsers. Nvidia launches the „DGX Cloud“ service with the cloud providers Microsoft, Google and Oracle.
„AI as a Service“ aims to provide companies with more intensive computing power to develop their own AI models amid the growing enthusiasm for ChatGPT.
Companies that sign up for DGX Cloud can access Nvidia AI services and GTX machines for AI processing, helping them build chatbots and more.
During the conference call, CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that AI is now at a „tipping point“ and companies are interested in incorporating generative AI technologies into their business. He emphasized that the DGX Cloud offers companies „access to the world’s most advanced AI platform“. He says Nvidia AI is „essentially the operating system of today’s AI systems.“
Nvidia GPUs or graphics processors are used to train large language models.
According to UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri, it took 10,000 Nvidia GPUs to train OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Nvidia holds 88% of the GPU market, making it far more dominant than AMD, Intel, and other players when it comes to building deep learning workloads. It also claims 95% of the market for GPUs used for machine learning.
