
Elegant advertising specialist becomes CEO of Twitter

Elon Musk has announced former NBCUniversal advertising executive Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter.
Though Musk will step down as CEO, he will continue to guide the future direction of the platform as chairman and CTO. Yaccarino will face significant challenges in her new role at Twitter, including the recent loss of advertisers, regulatory scrutiny and growing competition.
In her new role, Yaccarino will focus on business operations while Musk focuses on product design and new technologies. Yaccarino will also help “transform this platform into X, the everything app,” Musk added.
NCUniversal confirmed that Yaccarino has stepped down as global head of advertising and partnerships, where she led a team of 2,000 employees responsible for over $100 billion in advertising sales.
NBCU also has partnerships with Twitter, including a recent renewal of their agreement to broadcast video content from the 2024 Olympics.
Yaccarino helped digitize and ion ad sales at Comcast and NBC, which could make her a valuable addition to Twitter as the company seeks to restore advertisers’ trust in the platform.
