AI key topic at G7 summit
AI is expected to be a key focus at the upcoming gathering of world leaders, where talks will revolve around its impact on different sectors and potential regulations.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, meets with industry leaders from Microsoft and Google at the Bilderberg Secret Unexpected Meeting held this week in Lisbon, Portugal. The meeting, known for its strict rules of confidentiality and secrecy during closed talks, will cover AI and other topics including international relations, trade, energy and finance.
According to US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, G7 leaders are scheduled to have a “substantive conversation” about the future of AI during this week’s G7 summit in Japan. He said President Joe Biden will provide an update on recent discussions with major AI companies, highlighting the government’s efforts to capitalize on the opportunities presented by AI while responsibly managing its risks.
The UK government organized a meeting with top executives from major AI companies to discuss the technology’s risks and benefits, sources tell Bloomberg. The summit, possibly held later this month, could include leaders from OpenAI, DeepMind, and Anthropic.
