TechNet, a national network of technology companies, has launched a $25 million campaign called “AI for America” to educate legislators and the public about the positive aspects of AI. The aim of the campaign is to combat narratives about the dangers of AI.

TechNet includes companies like Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta, and Snap, Snapchat’s parent company. According to Axios, their campaign will feature digital and television advertising, events in Washington, D.C. and coalition building.

TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore said that recent talks about AI have focused too much on hypothetical scenarios and not on the positive impact it is having on Americans’ lives. She noted that for years, AI has been used “safely and responsibly” in areas such as traffic navigation, web browsing, discovering new music and defending against cyber threats.

Last week, Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Inflection, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI committed to implementing voluntary AI protections endorsed by the White House. Measures include third-party mockup testing, investments in cybersecurity, and virtual watermarks to identify AI-created content.
