According to Reuters, OpenAI is considering developing its own AI chips and other options to address the lack of advanced processors in the market. OpenAI has now secured over $11 billion in venture capital and is approaching $1 billion in annual revenue. This means the company is well positioned for R&D investments.
To develop its AI models, OpenAI relies on clusters of Nvidia GPUs in the cloud and a Microsoft supercomputer equipped with 10,000 Nvidia GPUs.
Due to the ongoing shortage of Nvidia high-end GPUs, OpenAI executives are considering various options, including developing their own AI chips-
to address the lack of advanced processors on the market.

Next month, Microsoft will unveil its first AI chip at its annual developer conference, a move that is also intended to curb its reliance on Nvidia AI chips amid rising demand.
