Zuckerberg said Meta has lowered its 2022 hiring goal for engineers from 10,000 to 6,000. He said the company intends to raise expectations and implement more aggressive targets among its employees, adding that some employees „may decide this place isn’t for you, and self-selection is fine with me.“
Meta has already slowed the pace of hiring this year as the company faces lower-than-expected revenue growth. Meta blames that on an industry-wide downturn and lost sales in Russia following the invasion of Ukraine.
The company has also seen a decline in advertising demand. It expects revenue losses of $10 billion this year due to privacy settings in iOS introduced by Apple in 2021.
