Xpeng has unveiled a a advanced driver assistence system

Shanghai, 25.5.2022

Chinese smart EV startup Xpeng has unveiled a new advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that works in urban environments. The City Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) software is being compared to Tesla’s autonomous driving software. It is the first time a Chinese car company has unveiled an ADAS for urban driving.

City NPG allows cars to autonomously perform certain driving tasks in cities, including:
–   Changing lanes and overtaking other vehicles.

  •  Driving around stationary cars and objects.
Driving at a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
According to Xpeng, the over-the-air update for City NGP extends ADAS use from parking lots and highways to more complex urban environments.
The company is currently testing the software in some of its Lidar-equipped P5 sedans with safety drivers in Guangzhou, where its headquarters are located.
