ByteDance now offers a music production app

ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, has released a music production app in the US. The Ripple app aims to help YouTubers compose and edit music for their content, especially short videos on TikTok and other platforms.

Ripple allows users to sing or hum a tune into their phone’s microphone, and it generates matching instrumental tracks like drums, bass, and piano.

The app also offers a virtual recording studio for audio editing on mobile devices, similar to portable digital audio workstations.

Only instrumental music is created and the creators are responsible for adding vocals. ByteDance assures that Ripple’s model was trained on its own licensed music and in-house collection, not commercial music from labels.

The closed beta app is currently open for invite-only testing to iOS users.
